Slow Food Utah

Slow Food Utah is a local organization supporting fresh local food from small local farms. The Slow Food idea is to reaquaint people with food, farms and the growing process. The process is slow, but produces fresh organic, sustainable foods.

Quality food takes time and planning. It is during the planting season that we decide what will be available at harvest.

One of the most interesting developments in the slow food movement is the farm share. With the farm share you purchase a share in a farm's crop and receive food throughout the summer. In the spring you receive lettuce and Spring greens. In the summer and toward harvest season, you receive vegetables and fruit.

A planned slow food diet changes with the seasons. After all, it is better for our planet for people to change their diet with the season than to burn fossil fuels to move the food.

I am giving slow foods a March Site of the Day slot as March is a good time to start planning the eating for the rest of the year.
