Walmart - Salt Lake City
In August 2004, Wal-Mart opened its Salt Lake City Super Center on 1300 South 300 West. The new store is a half block west of the 1300 South stop on Trax.
I have always loved the low prices at Wal-Mart. My only complaint is that Wal-Mart has a history of building stores on the outskirts of town; So, I am very happy to see a store in town withint walking distance of Trax.
Walmart Facts reports that, in 2004, Walmart had 40 stores in Utah (24 Supercenters, 4 discount stores, 5 neighborhood markets and 7 SAMS Clubs). These Utah stores employed over 14,000 associatiates and payed an average hourly wage of $9.55. They have 750 suppliers in Utah providing an additional 36,959 jobs. The stores donated $1,762,558 to Utah Charities and paid over $12.5 million in state and local taxes (I assume they are just counting sales and property tax).
The Walmart.com SiteToStore feature offers free shipping to the local store. You can also find local coupons.
Of course, my job with this page is to talk you out of driving to the local store, and to shop online at WalMart.com. Walmart.com has the same low prices and you can save on gas and the rush of the crowds.
Wal-Mart is a big store. The web site is big as well. You will find music, furniture, toys, clothes, camping gear and gifts. If you are shopping for presents its a lot easier to order online since the web site will ship to your destination...saving you a trip to the store.
