Salt lake City is the capitol of Utah and is at the heart of a metro area stretching from Ogden to Provo.
The town is bordered on the West by the Great Salt Lake and on the East by the towering Wasatch Mountains.
Salt Lake City was founded in 1847 by Brigham Young (when Utah was still part of Mexican Territory. Locals celebrate the founding of Utah on July 24.
The 2010 census reports that the city has a population of 183,171. Salt Lake County has a population of 1,034,989. There are over 2 million people living along the Wasatch Front.
