The McCune Mansion

The McCune Mansion is a stately manor on Main Street in Salt Lake on the hill between the Salt Lake Temple and the State Capitol. I like the view of the stairs leading to the mansion from Main.

The mansion was built between 1898 and 1901 for a cost of $1 million financed by railroad tycoon Alfred W. McCune and designed by the architect S.C. Dallas.

The McCunes donated the house to the LDS Church in 1920. The building was used as the McCune School of music for several decades. In 1999, The McCarthey Family purchased to building and restored it to its architectural splendor.

Today the building is used as a reception. The site says you can book a tour of the building at the Utah Heritage Foundation.
