David Shields

Salt Lake Writer, Dave Shields, snagged the 2006 Best of State Award for his inspired work The Race which puts his protagonist Ben Barnes against the best international cyclists at the Tour de France. This fast paced novel examines both strategy and internal politics of road cycling.

Shields' latest novel, The Tour, finds Ben Barnes wearing the coveted Yellow Jacket and a contender for ultimate victory in the world's premiere sport event. As it turns out, the road is not the only challenge. Barnes must battle internal team politics as he competes in a world of juiced cyclists.

Mr. Shields is also author of Pendulum Path which provides conflicts faced by a Mormon Youth caught between his LDS heritage and the adventure sport of rock climbing.
