Genesis Group

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was established at time when United States was afflicted with the institution of slavery and racist theories about the origins of man were prevalent. To the world's misfortune, the early LDS Church picked up many of the racist sentiments of the nineteenth century. Today, the Genesis Group works to help undo the damages of this unfortunate legacy.

The Genisis Group was established in 1971—the same year that President Spencer W. Kimball professed a revelation extending the LDS Preisthood to "all worthy males". The goal of the group is the support members of the LDS Church who are of African Descent.
